The Sun Room at Longtime Restaurant & Bar in Bali shows how lighting can transform a space, creating an immersive experience in the world of dining.
Designed by Studio Nimmersatt, this space blends modern elegance and a cozy atmosphere, harmoniously adapting to different moments of the day.
Lighting played a central role in realizing the client’s vision, which was to transform a historic building in Canggu into a vibrant venue that combined the charm of a mid-century vacation home with the energy of Bali’s nightlife. Longtime Restaurant & Bar was designed to stay open from lunchtime until late at night, accompanying guests from aperitifs to midnight cocktails, with music and sharing. For this reason, the lighting design had to follow the natural flow of the day, creating a smooth transition between bright, welcoming spaces during the day and a more intimate, intriguing atmosphere at night.
The key role of light bulbs
BeBulbs A24 light bulbs play a key role in the project. Thanks to carefully designed lighting that evolves throughout the day, the Sun Room transitions from bright light at lunchtime to a softer, more intimate atmosphere in the evening. This effect mimics the sun’s cycle, enhancing comfort and a sense of welcome. The copper-colored half-sphere of the light bulb not only enhances the aesthetics but also echoes the sun theme at any time of day or night.
The power of light in spaces
The choice between warm and cool light (learn more here) is essential for setting the mood of a space. While cooler tones promote focus and energy, warmer tones create intimacy and relaxation. The lighting in the Sun Room shows how thoughtful design can leverage these principles to provide a unique experience, where light is not just functional but also emotional.
