Kiki's Bar
Imagine sitting at the table of a luxury venue with a direct view of the Mediterranean Sea. You hear the sound of waves crashing on the beach and the crisp scent of fresh air. And in the evening, you let yourself be carried away by the magical atmosphere of this place, illuminated by a unique installation featuring Creative-Cables lights.
There are two projects where this dream became reality: the first is Kiki’s Bar, completed by Archilight—a professional lighting design studio—the second was created by interior designer Nedal Badr and 3Brothers—one of the leading companies in the Egyptian lighting sector—inside a prestigious resort on the North Coast of Alexandria, Egypt.
String lights, and just like that—magic!
They create a soft, gentle light for a guaranteed atmospheric effect, while still providing enough illumination for people to clearly see food or drinks. These are the outdoor string lights that many restaurants, beach clubs, and venues choose to transform their outdoor spaces. That’s exactly what Kiki’s Bar at Hacienda Bay, a luxurious coastal resort on Egypt’s northern coast, did.
Lighting up the spacious terrace overlooking the sea are the string lights from the EIVA series, the first outdoor-specific, customizable lighting system with IP65 protection. At the heart of each one is the waterproof Eiva-2 light socket with dual output, the soft-touch silicone IP65 ceiling canopy, and glossy black outdoor cords.
The vintage and poetic look of the space is also guaranteed by the sphere-shaped light bulbs with curved filaments and golden glass, which emit a particularly warm light (1800K).
No walls: guaranteed sea view
This beachfront restaurant posed a major challenge for the designer. The complete lack of walls and ceilings, no lighting over tables—which are moved around depending on customer flow—and the direct view of the sea with frequent gusts of wind were just some of the obstacles that had to be overcome. Success was achieved thanks also to the innovative solutions by Creative-Cables.
The need? Unique pendant lights that could provide enough brightness for the tables without blocking the sea view in any way. Plus, they needed to be able to move along with the tables when necessary, ensuring the right lighting during dinner or aperitif. All this was achieved thanks to systems like EIVA, which offer maximum flexibility with IP65 protection rating. And despite potential obstacles, the result was extraordinary.
A grid of tension cables was placed at the base of the installation to ensure maximum stability and safety of the structures, even on windy days. On top of this, EIVA textile cables were laid, which, thanks to their double elastomeric rubber coating (suitable for use from -25°C to +60°C) and fabric covering, guarantee both safety and aesthetics. At the heart of the project is EIVA-3, the T-joint with IP65 protection rating that, thanks to its special insulating gel inside, can safely withstand rain and storms, and EIVA Elegant, the world’s first IP65-wirable socket for outdoor use with E27 fitting and a soft-touch silicone cover.
To make the atmosphere even more magical, a profusion of golden light bulbs creates a soft, diffused glow for a warm and enveloping effect. Here, Milleluci light bulbs were used, perfect with their tangle of micro-LEDs inside.
