The award that celebrates responsible design
Organized by Kiki Lab in collaboration with MILANO HOME Exhibition, the KI-Life Sustainable Award, now in its 4th edition, celebrates projects and products that embody the values of sustainable development, social responsibility, and respect for the environment. Among the 27 finalists, the jury, chaired by Fabrizio Valente (founder and CEO of Kiki Lab), named Cabless the overall winner, recognizing it as a perfect blend of craftsmanship, technological innovation, and responsible design.

The meeting of artisan tradition and modern technology
Cabless is much more than a simple portable lamp: it’s a statement of sustainability that combines Italian artisanal excellence with responsible technological innovation. Made from FSC-certified alder wood sourced from Val Imagna, Cabless carries a story of environmental respect. The wood comes from tree stumps, eliminating the need to cut down trees—a choice that demonstrates a commitment to protecting natural resources. Thanks to its fully modular design, every component of the lamp can be easily replaced or repaired, embracing the “right to repair” philosophy that counters planned obsolescence and promotes more ethical consumption. Additionally, the decision to exclude the USB-C cord from the packaging follows European Community guidelines to reduce electronic waste, encouraging the reuse of existing cords.

In addition to its sustainable design, Cabless is equipped with a rechargeable battery and a light bulb, both replaceable, making the product even more durable and environmentally conscious.
