Located midway between Brescia and Franciacorta, not far from Lake Iseo, the Tabaccaia in Castrezzato is reopening its gates after several decades of closure.
A complex of late 19th-century industrial buildings spanning 10,000 square meters, whose memory had long been forgotten due to decay and abandonment. Thanks to a project to restore the architectural structure, the place will come back to life: no more tobacco, but a versatile space to be enjoyed in every way!
All summer long, this location will be dedicated to sharing and gatherings born from collaborations with local businesses and activities. The idea intentionally recalls the relaxed pace of summer: an open-air space for everyone, even just to take a break, sip a good glass of wine, or have dinner while tasting the many different culinary options offered by street food, the bistro, and the osteria, which will host top names in Italian cuisine.
In this climate of “new beginnings,” we stepped up for Brescia, a city we’re connected to thanks to our flagship store in the heart of town, a hub for both private clients and professionals. Our contribution focused on the lighting design for the space. Eiva was our design choice: the world’s first IP65-rated Socket that can be wired and rewired, an innovative and creative solution we believe truly reflects the artistic atmosphere that the former Tabaccaia tobacco factory offers its guests. Multiple possible combinations for our colorful, practical, and functional outdoor lamps, able to breathe new life into a long-forgotten space. The lighting setup was managed by CroVal. The installation was supported by SCAB Design—a true Brescia-based company—which furnished the bistro area with 60 Lady B chairs, featuring a sturdy technopolymer frame in various earth tones, and the elegant, practical extra-large Lisa Lounge Club armchair. An ambitious renovation project, spanning several buildings of the Tabaccaia, aiming straight for revival with a target set for 2021. A place from the past looking toward the future, tenaciously guided by the light of Eiva.
