The Cable Light is the exclusive lamp designed by Matteo Ragni and produced by Creative Cables. Inspired by the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car, it transforms the iconic cable into a modern lighting artwork and a piece of contemporary décor. A true design object that celebrates the mountains and Italian engineering, featuring our components and our iconic fabric cables.
The Cable Light is part of a series of objects that tell the story of “high-altitude excellence in harmony with nature.” Skyway Monte Bianco is not just a cable car that takes you up to 3,466 meters. It’s an idea: bringing people closer to the mountains and the sky, broadening horizons, and crossing boundaries,” says Matteo Ragni, winner of the Compasso d’Oro in 2001, about his works.
And in particular, it explains that this object consists of “a generously shaped light bulb embraced by a basket made of 8 fabric-covered arms, recalling the structure of the iconic cable car that allows us all to enjoy panoramic ascents and daring descents on snowy slopes.” In detail, “the upper handle, reminiscent of the cable car carriage, thanks to the angled tip, serves as a handy hook for hanging the light bulb on cables, branches, or simply for holding it comfortably in your hand. A solid turned wooden base provides stability and a pleasant tactile feel.”
