Two bathrooms become true scenic sets. The first is wrapped in a warm, bold, saturated red. The second plays with geometry and glossy midnight blue tiles. Two strong, expressive spaces with daring palettes. And in both, it’s the lighting that defines the balance between volume, color, and atmosphere.
In the heart of Logroño, architect David D. Iriondo transformed two bathrooms into showcases of character and color, thanks to a bold and well-balanced use of tiles. The first features garnet tiles, a shade of earthy red that brings warmth and character to the space, while the second is done in a deep blue full of personality. In such a rich environment, lighting plays a crucial role—not just for functionality, but to enhance the materials, shapes, and emotions. For this reason, Creative Cables has proven to be a valuable ally.
Part of Fuorisalone 2025, the event transformed our store on via De Amicis into an exhibition where light came to life in unexpected forms, the result of creations from all over Europe. Visitors had the opportunity to explore its endless possibilities, admiring artistic installations and innovative designs that defy every convention.
Red bathroom lighting: the warm color that embraces
Garnet-colored tiles cover the floors and walls like a second skin. The surface is glossy, almost glass-like. In such a setting, every light point reflects, vibrates, and multiplies. The lighting must complement and enhance the sense of warmth and texture. Here are the key elements for perfect lighting: - Color temperature: 2700K, to further warm up the ceramic’s hue. - Socket in ceramic or satin metal to soften reflections and maintain color depth. - The wall lamp, mounted symmetrically above the mirror, becomes a focal point without interrupting color harmony.
With a tone-on-tone textile cord (copper, rust, or burgundy) and a matte metal or ceramic socket, the light stops being just an addition: it becomes part of the color. For an intimate and vibrant effect, with the light becoming part of the material—not just something added on.
Blue bathroom lighting: highlights and precision
The second bathroom is its opposite: a cooler palette, with cobalt blue tiles that react to the light in a geometric way. Here the challenge is not just aesthetic, but optical: you need lighting that doesn’t flatten the space, but enhances shadows, plays with the surfaces, and creates dynamism.
- Color temperature: 3000K-3500K, more neutral to maintain the color accuracy of the blue.
- Socket in matte ceramic or satin metal to soften reflections and preserve the depth of color.
- A contrasting cord (for example, mustard or graphite) can highlight the lamp’s presence without disrupting its harmony with the setting.
In this context, the lamp itself becomes technical, precise, almost sculptural.
Light as a color ally
When working with bold finishes—glazed tiles, embossed ceramics, saturated colors—lighting can’t be neutral. It has to be precise, intentional, and consistent with the visual rhythm of the space.
Three approaches that work:
1. Targeted light that enhances materials
A lamp with an adjustable joint or a wall-mounted system with an extendable arm lets you create focused accents. The mirrored effect of tiles, for example, can be highlighted by a narrow beam of warm light, creating dynamic reflections and unexpected depth.
2. Light tones that speak the language of color
In spaces with intense tones, the color temperature of the light should be chosen as carefully as you’d select a fabric or a finish. Warm light (2700K) amplifies the depth of forest green or terracotta; a more neutral light (3000K) accurately brings out the vibrancy of blues and yellows.
3. Shapes and materials in dialogue with the finish
A glazed ceramic lamp or a light bulb in opaline glass, perhaps paired with brushed brass details, can echo the hues or reflections of the tiles. The result? A stylistic consistency that doesn’t copy, but harmonizes.
A tailor-made approach to lighting
What inspires us most about this project is the message: even in “functional” spaces like the bathroom, every element can (and should) speak the same language. Light included.
With our modular system and the creative freedom we offer—among cords, sockets, finishes, light sources, and accessories—every bathroom lamp can be custom-made. Not just any light source, but a design object integrated into the project.
