Immerse customers in Japanese culture without sacrificing the Piedmontese spirit, in a space where every detail is carefully curated—including the lighting. That was the goal of the project for the Japanese restaurant in Avigliana.
In the restaurant industry, even more than in many other fields, presentation matters. Where food is prepared and served, lighting is essential—casting shadows over a dish is as forbidden as choosing the right shades for each room is required, offering guests an experience that delights more than just the palate. Among the projects by architect Piero Gianotti Prat of Studio Associato QSA is Le Petit Restaurant Japonais in Avigliana (TO), where this was the key premise: to create a welcoming and functional environment focused on the unique value of traditional Japanese cuisine. A space with a warm and comfortable yet minimal and clean atmosphere. The venue has two rooms, and for both, the ideal solution was lighting by Creative-Cables, combining Cage chandeliers with Floating light bulbs.
The main room—with 10.5 ft vaulted ceilings and exposed brick—had the light fixtures in less-than-ideal spots.
Thanks to the combination of the black Rose-One ceiling canopy and the powder pink cord, which blended perfectly with the brick, light was brought to the vaulted centers, creating a neat and symmetrical design within the space.
Four lamps were created, with Cage—the patented component with a simple shape that allows you to "cage" cords, creating dramatic and original pendant lamps—serving as the centerpiece of the arrangements.
The same atmosphere was recreated in the restaurant’s second room, which is smaller and has ceilings of 2.7 meters. Here too, with perfect consistency, the undisputed stars were the two Cage chandeliers and the Floating light bulbs. All elements were black, from the ceiling canopy to the cords, from the light sockets to the chandelier frame, for a final burst of light provided by the bulbs.
Floating light bulbs have the filament hidden along the edge of the globe, creating a stunning decorative effect. The one used in this composition has a diameter of 15 cm and is perfect as the centerpiece of a pendant light, either alone or with others from the same series.
